Hardware recommendation for CADET

We’re in the process of acquiring a new laptop for development work and modelling. The development software doesn’t really have a preference regarding hardware, so can basically pick anything we want. I was wondering if CADET has a preference? AMD or Intel? More cores or is singlethread performance more important? For reference, we will be mostly doing lumped rate with pores with particle distribution, in SMB mode. That doesn’t profit from GPU power in any way by the way, right?

Answer from @lieres:

We haven’t systematically benchmarked Intel versus AMD but there should not be a big difference. Forward simulations of your system should run efficient on about 4 cores. More cores can be useful for solving inverse problems (parameter estimation, process optimization). CPU speed does of course matter, but I would not invest in highest peak performance.
