FZ Jülich is recruiting a PhD researcher for VICAR, a project on in vivo quantification and simulation of carbon allocation in plant root architectures. The position involves developing mechanistic transport models using CADET, coupled with imaging- and sensor-derived data, and extended through numerical optimization and ML-based inference. Tasks include building PDE/ODE root transport models in CADET, parameter estimation, uncertainty quantification, and integration into scientific workflows. Ideal background: Scientific computing (Python/C++), numerical modeling, parameter estimation, systems biology, or biophysical transport.
